So if you’re just waking up, itchio took down NSFW and alot of queer content overnight. They did this with no warning or announcement, no emails, nothing. Their statement blames Collective Shout, the same people who went after Steam, for pressuring the payment processors.
Remember: don’t be an asshole to rank and file employees. Don’t yell, swear, or threaten. You’re mad at the corporate heads, not the normies. Be firm but polite in all messages you leave, no matter where they are.
If you have any other links or ideas, please reblog with them! We’re all in this together. If you’re queer, remember that you’re pornographic to them by default. They will come for you, so strike now while we can!
Some stuff you can say (I wouldn’t copy/paste verbatim, but find ways to put these points into your own words):
I am seriously considering canceling my card.
MasterCard/Visa/Paypal has no right to dictate what legal goods or services I can and cannot purchase.
Adult and erotic content is legal for purchase. There is no law that I am violating.
If payment processors ban sales of this otherwise legal content, it will cease to be available. Putting MasterCard/Paypal/Visa in the position of censoring this content and risking a First Amendment violation.
The ACLU has begun a petition with around 100,000 signatures demanding that MasterCard end their policy. (maybe check for updated numbers before sending this one.)
A ban on adult content will ultimately harm queer and marginalized creators, and MasterCard/Visa/Paypal is complicit in that by forcing this issue.
Many of the reports about the games currently being delisted from Steam and Itch have been exaggerated or presented in bad faith. The group responsible for those reports are mass-reporting without reviewing the content themselves.
The lack of due process or fact-checking that went into this process is shocking. The activist group claiming responsibility has a history of nuisance reporting, and should not be trusted.
I do not have children, and am 18 or older; what I purchase is my business. (Alternately something like: “I am purchasing these items for use on a device that children cannot access” or “that I have password protected to prevent my children from accessing”)
I am deeply concerned about MasterCard/Visa/Paypal’s handling of this situation, and the lack of vetting and research that has gone into strong-arming how other companies do business.
By the way, after you sign, if you do that is, you will be taken to a page asking for a donation. The donation can be made using your credit card, of course. So MasterCard and Visa will know you signed, and you donated.
My requirements for getting involved in mass actions like this is I have to be sure it won’t put me over capacity, I have a bad habit of pushing myself too far, and I prefer to be able to understand the purpose of the actions I’m taking.
This ticks both boxes for me. I can understand how this will tangibly help, there’s a proof of concept in how it can change things implicit in the fact a right-wing group did it, and another post explained how to do this without being mean to call-center employees/being confrontational. How long call times and an uptick in complaints is more effective than diatribes.
I spent about an hour yesterday being polite but confused and distressed at PayPal customer service, looking for an explanation for why my friends online suddenly want me to cancel my account. Going to do visa when I have the energy.
If you have the space, give it a try. I’ll reblog the other thing that helped me too.

Not just for medical either. Ever got smacked with a huge ass fee for “damages” when you move out of an apartment that not just eats your security deposit but tries to take an arm and a leg as well.
Ask for the itemized list, you will be surprised how fast they come back with a “huh, that’s weird, I can’t seem to find where these damages are coming from” and let that shit go.
People WILL try to screw you on all kinds of routine and mundane shit. Don’t let them.
REBLOG TO SAVE SOMEONE FROM OUR BULLSHIT HEALTHCARE SYSTEM
This is such an important and genuinely terrifying post. I could completely go off on the rise of anti-science, but for now I’ll just add: it isn’t just boomers that get deceived. This is a warning to all of us.
Pay ATTENTION to what you are being told. If you think you cannot be deceived, you leave yourself open to deception. Question, doubt, research research research. Learn about your personal biases, dig up any subconscious cognitive dissonance. Keep an eye on your mind.
It needs to be stressed that biases, not a lack of intelligence, is very much the issue here. Being aware of the need to fact check yourself is key: Intelligence won’t protect you from bad or unhealthy mental states, or keep you safe from cults of any sort. Intelligence will just make it easier for you to rationalize and attempt to justify the malformed tools you’ve taken/been given to yourself and others. You need to be wise enough to challenge yourself.
when you have plans in the morning you can still live an eventful & fulfilling life afterwards but when you’ve got plans in the afternoon? well that’s your whole day
this is like the dumbest thing in the world to write about a 24 yo with zero children who set out on a ridiculously dangerous expedition to record animal behaviour in the wild
I see a lot of ‘cis’ women say they wish they were androgynous in the way men were or they wish they were pretty in the way men were. This is your sign to go try to do that. You may find you enjoy being an androgynous woman. You may find you no longer identify as a woman. You may find you don’t like androgyny. You will not know until you try. Cut your hair if you’ve always wanted to but have been afraid to. Shop in the men’s section if you’ve been too nervous to. Wear clothing with an androgynous silhouette. Experiment with binding, take baby steps with compression bras if you want. Wear unisex scents. Live life. Try things you want to try. A lot of cis women do not understand the joys of mens pants and mens deodorant. I think everyone should try both of those things.
Funnily enough, I’m not 100% joking. While many animals have paw pads, the particular kind of soft, squishy beans found on housecats are an adaptation for stealth. Squishy beans mean you’re looking at an ambush predator.
